Exporting from Bookseller

Creating viaLibri Export File using <emBookseller.
  • 1 - Starting from the Stock screen, do a search for all Instock Items. The books from your found set will be uploaded to your website using the toolkit plugin.

  • 2 - From the search results list click on the Print icon.

  • 3 - Open the Create List/Catalogue -> Choose Options tab and check the option labelled "found set." (It is not necessary to sort the records).

  • 4 - Click on the Export Records tab.

  • 5 - From the Select Options tab click a pencil in one of listed formats (it doesn't matter which one).

  • 6 - On the Export Formats screen click the "Add A New Record" icon (a green plus sign) in the upper right of the screen.

  • 7 - Give it a format name (for example: libridirect_plugin_export).

  • 8 - Enter Export format: "Stock", Type of File: "tab-separated".

  • 9 - Click OK for "Would you like default list of fields created?"

  • 10 - Click the Format Options tab. In this panel the field marked "field separator" needs to be set as "TAB". You will also need to enter the header row as displayed below.

The text you will need to type into the box will read like this:

stock_id|~TAB~|author|~TAB~|title|~TAB~|subtitle|~TAB~|place|~TAB~|publisher|~TAB~|date published|~TAB~|description|~TAB~|banner|~TAB~|condition|~TAB~|price|~TAB~|keywords|~TAB~|isbn|~TAB~|date_(4_digits)|~TAB~|edition

  • 11 - You will also need to put an X in the box to the right of the field labeled Header Row.

  • 12 - Click the Choose Fields tab. Create the field order and grouping as shown in the following screen image.† This will be tricky, but you need to make sure the fields and red field links are arranged in the order shown.† If you have fields that are not shown here you will need special instructions.

  • 13 - You will now need to locate the folder that you will export your file to.† In†the Dropbox folder on your computer†there should now be a folder named Apps, and in the Apps folder there should be another folder named viaLibri.† This folder was created previously in Step 1. Your export file needs to be saved to that location.

  • 14 - Click on the tab labeled Export Location to open that panel

  • 15 - In the field marked or select the path enter the directory path to the viaLibri folder (you can click on the form field to find the location).

  • 16 - Enter a file name. The .ext must be "txt".

  • 17 - Now click on the blue icon marked export.

  • 18 - A section†of your export file should now be displayed on the screen and the complete file should be saved in your dropbox/apps/vialibri folder. Once it has been saved there it will automatically be uploaded to our server and the book data will be available on your website.

In the future, when you want to update your listings you will use the same procedure, although most of the settings will be saved as defaults and will not need to be repeated reset.
